Soccer

Soccer, known as football in most countries outside of North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net. The game is played on a rectangular field, commonly referred to as a pitch, with a goal at each end. Players use their feet, head, and body (excluding arms and hands) to control and kick the ball.

The sport is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, which are maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The most widely recognized soccer competitions include leagues, such as the English Premier League, and international tournaments, like the FIFA World Cup. Soccer is known for its global popularity, being played and followed by millions of people around the world, and is considered the world’s most popular sport.
