Climate Change

Climate change refers to significant alterations in global or regional climate patterns, particularly those related to increases in temperature and shifts in weather conditions over an extended period. The term is often used to describe the long-term effects of human activities, primarily the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial processes, which lead to increased concentrations of greenhouse gases in the Earth’s atmosphere. These gases trap heat, causing the planet’s average temperature to rise, a phenomenon known as global warming. The consequences of climate change include rising sea levels, more frequent and severe weather events (such as hurricanes, floods, and droughts), disruptions to ecosystems, loss of biodiversity, and significant impacts on agriculture, health, and economies worldwide. Climate change is a critical global challenge, necessitating coordinated international efforts to mitigate its effects and adapt to its impacts.
